Took some colorimeter measurements of a Chuck Close yesterday, in order to calculate ?E.  Unfortunately, the original measurements were CIE Yxy, and as far as I can tell the normal calculation is from Lab.  In searching for a conversion, came upon a cool website on color space, which includes the conversion formulas, and an online color calculator.  The Lab calculation is:
