I was a retired consultant with over 40 years of experience in conservation of art, specifically works on paper, sculpture and ethnographic objects, as well as integrated pest management, microclimates and the museum environment. For many of those years I was the head of conservation in a large multidisciplinary museum. But now I’m teaching at a conservation graduate program in Taiwan. I taught a similar graduate course in preventative conservation for 30 years. I’ve also done my share of coding, primarily perl and XSL, and have a deep affection for all manner of emacsen. Outside of that I also spent 40 years trying to get mandarin chinese into my thick head (better now thanks to swimming in local soup), while pretty much alternately getting thrown to the ground in more aikido dojos than I care to admit (where only one or two knew me as darmabum).
